Shampoo bars - tips for using from The Black Cat Soap House

TIPS for USING: If you are using an all natural shampoo bar for the first time, it may take some time for your hair and scalp to get used to it as it goes through a period of “detox”. It takes a while for the chemicals that have built up on your hair to be washed out and your scalp may also take some time to get back to producing its natural amount of sebum again. During this time your hair may feel “gunky”, greasy, dull or drier than usual. Please persevere – it’ll be worth it! Please be aware that not all shampoo bars are natural. They may contain chemicals (e.g. SLS) which are found in many liquid shampoos.

Wet your hair and rub the bar over the hair to create a creamy lather. You will need to use plenty of water. If you feel there isn’t enough lather, just add more water!
Some people like to use a diluted cider vinegar as a conditioning rinse. Put a splash of vinegar in a jug of water and use it after rinsing all of the shampoo out of your hair. As you pour it over your hair you will notice how your hair becomes immediately soft and silky. Then do a final rinse. Avoid contact with eyes as it will sting. If you get it in your eyes rinse with plenty of water.
