Orzo with chicken


  • 2 x chicken breasts chopped
  • 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
  • Vegetable stock, around 400ml
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp mixed herbs
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • 250g orzo
  • 100ml single cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste



  • Step 1

Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, then add the garlic, stirring, for 5 minutes or until onion softens. Add the chopped chicken and cook, stirring, until browned.

  • Step 2

Add the tomatoes, herbs & spices and stock and stir.  Bring to the boil then gently simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. 

  • Step 3

After 20 minutes add the orzo and stir.  Bring back to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.  The orzo can stick to the bottom of the pot so keep giving it a stir.  Once cooked stir in the cream and season with salt and pepper.
